After extensive road upgrades in Caledon Street, work has finally been completed and the normal GO GEORGE bus route 56 between the city centre and Denneoord will be reinstated on Sunday 11 August 2019.
For the duration of construction work, the buses were rerouted to use Symonds Street instead of Caledon Street, and ran in the forward direction only. Route 56 will now revert back to normal and operate in both the forward and reverse directions as per the published timetables. The four temporary bus stops in Symonds and Adderley Streets will no longer be operational once the normal route is reinstated.
Passengers will be notified
GO GEORGE communication champions will be on the Denneoord buses from 6 until 8 August to inform and prepare passengers. They will have timetable pocket guides available to hand out to passengers who need to refresh their memory regarding the normal route and schedules.
Champions will also be stationed at the temporary stops on Monday 12 August to redirect any passengers who might have missed the notification.
To support the message, posters will be put up in Caledon Street, at the temporary stops and at the Transport Hub.
For more information, please contact the GO GEORGE Call Centre on 0800 044 044, operational between 05:00 and 21:30, seven days a week.
