Go George says thank you with soup

The GO GEORGE team took a few hours last week to say thank you to safety-related departments in George that contribute to the safe service the public transport system aims to render.

As it happened, the two days chosen to deliver soup and rolls were icy cold and partly wet, so the gesture was warmly welcomed by the recipients.

The three ladies in the George Municipality’s CCTV control room were pleasantly surprised by the knock on their door. From left are Simphiwe Schaap of the GO GEORGE communications team and control room operators Portia Jayiya, Candice Harris and Alicia Balatoni.

Soup Fire and Rescue

At George Fire and Rescue the entire Shift A quickly gathered to grab a steaming cup of soup and a roll. Adding warmth to the welcome beverage was the lovely Alexandra Swarts (in front) who joined the GO GEORGE team in saying thank you and to help dish out the soup. Alexandra (16) is a Grade 11 learner at Rundle College and one of only 24 South African finalists in the Miss Commonwealth Teen competition. The GO GEORGE team was just in time to treat some traffic officers after their weekly meeting.
