Sunday 20 September 2026

GO GEORGE will activate a trial route between the George CBD and George Airport on Sunday, 20 September 2026, providing passengers with a convenient new travel option seven days a week.

ROUTE 19 will operate between 05:00 and 20:00 daily, with a bus departing about every 22 minutes during peak traffic (05:00 – 08:50 and 15:35 – 19:42), and every 45 minutes during off-peak.

ROUTE 19 CBD – AIRPORT

Due to the roadworks in Cradock Street, the route will temporarily deviate from the planned Route 19 in the CBD:

Departing from the Transport Hub (stop CRADOCK CBD 563D) in Cradock Street, the bus will turn left onto Hibernia Street, then left onto Meade Street, left onto Market Street (in other words, going around the block), right onto Cradock Street, right onto Nelson Mandela Blvd, left onto York Street and right onto the R102 at the Groeneweide circle.

Returning from the airport, the route will turn right onto Market Street from York Street, and left onto Cradock Street to the Transport Hub.

The route will stop at all existing bus stops between the CBD (stop CRADOCK CBD 560D) and MediClinic (stop SKATELAB 821), and thereafter at the AIRPORT 711 stop inside the airport grounds. See map. The service demand and uptake will be carefully monitored with the view of continuous refinement and adjustment to passenger needs.

19A THEMBALETHU-AIRPORT & 19B PARKDENE-AIRPORT

To accommodate staff starting work early, two early-morning routes, each running just one trip, are being scheduled to depart at Parkdene (stop PARKDENE HIGH 542A) and Thembalethu (stop NELSON MANDELA A 700C) at 05:10 daily. These routes will not board passengers at the airport and will return to the depot directly. See maps.

For more trip-planning support, phone the GO GEORGE Call Centre

on 0800 044 044 between 05:00 and 20:00 daily.
