Outeniqua Park is host to the annual international schools rugby tournament for under-18 teams next Tuesday, 11 August 2015. With the best under-18 teams from England, Wales, Italy, France and South Africacompeting, vast numbers of spectators from all over the Southern Cape are expected to flock to the stadium.

“This is the perfect opportunity to test the GO GEORGE bus system,” says Shanold Marillac, Senior Manager for Community Development for George Municipality. “With parking a challenge whenever Outeniqua Park hosts a big event, we invite sports enthusiasts to make use of our convenient buses to drop them right at the stadium where we have a bus stop, and to transport them back to the CBD afterwards. Connecting buses to and from the interchange in Cradock Street go to all areas where the service has already been rolled out.”

The games at the stadium kick off at 13:00, with the SA Schools A team against England u.18. At 15:00 Wales u.18 takes on Italy u.18, and at 17:00 SA Schools is up against France u.18.

On weekdays, the Blanco/Heather Park buses depart from the interchange in Cradock Street in the CBD every 15 minutes between 12:00 and 15:00, and every 30 minutes thereafter. After 15:00, the buses back to the CBD depart from Blanco every 30 minutes, and can pick up passengers opposite the stadium on their way into town.

As incentive for rugby fans to travel to the stadium by bus, GO GEORGE will be having lucky draws in between games for those who have dropped their bus tickets – that have been stamped on that day – in the box at the GO GEORGE stall. Prizes will include multi-journey tickets as well as other handy GO GEORGE items.
