With the new price structure of GO GEORGE bus tickets, encouraging passengers to buy a cheaper ticket before they board a bus, business opportunities for ticket vendors have become a prospect to consider.
Only single tickets can be bought on the bus from the driver, costing R10. Registered ticket vendors are the only purchase points for the cheaper off-bus single ticket (R9) and the popular multi-journey ticket (R85 for 10 trips).
Joining the ever-growing list of businesses that sell bus tickets, mobile vendors are a welcome addition, servicing busy bus stops during peak times. The number of vendors has more than tripled over the last two months.
To make it easier for passengers to buy their tickets beforehand, community organisations, individuals, businesses (including small home businesses like spaza shops) and schools are invited to become GO GEORGE ticket vendors. The aim is to provide ticket sales points in as many areas and communities as possible.
For more information on what being a vendor entails, please send an email to info@gogeorge.org.za, or call 0800 044 044.
The latest vendor list is available at the GO GEORGE info kiosk in Cradock Street or on the Fares & Tickets webpage.
