Training is never over at GO GEORGE

Hoist training

Working for the GO GEORGE bus service means that training is never over. On top of initial training for each specific job, skills are continuously refreshed and sharpened.

New technology is one reason for upskilling staff, but George Link staff are generally encouraged and supported in career path development and achieving full qualifications.

Literacy and computer skills are part of general training, while advanced driver training, hoist operator, customer care, universal access, firefighting and first aid training also form part of the programme.

Training of operational staff includes driver and waybill training, regulating, despatching, inspection, route control, supervision, incident investigation, tyre control, and operational as well as accident clerk duties.

Senior staff training varies from basic road management principles, standard operating procedures, fleet operation, monitoring and management of routing and scheduling, customer relations and entrepreneurship to business plans, cost accounting and contract management.
