Uniondale and Haarlem
GOOD NEWS! GO GEORGE brings bus services to Uniondale and surrounds
Residents travelling to and living in the Uniondale area have long been asking for a scheduled public bus service to George. That dream finally becomes reality when GO GEORGE officially launches Route 20 GEORGE–UNIONDALE/HAARLEM on 30 October 2026.
Where, when and what time?
- Two minibuses depart at 06:00 from both Uniondale and Haarlem, and passengers transfer to one minibus at the T‑junction where the two roads meet.
- The route stops at Avontuur, Uitvlug, Noll, Eenzaamheid, Ganzekraal, Ezeljacht, Herold and Waboomskraal.
- Arrival at the George Transport Hub in the town centre is at approximately 08:00.
- The return trip departs from the Hub at 15:00.
- Roadworks on the N9 may affect arrival times.
Bookings
Bookings can be made by calling 074 305 4180 or sending a WhatsApp message before 22:00 the evening before departure. Passengers who arrive at a bus stop without a booking may be accommodated if there is space available on the minibus and on the return trip from George. However, there is no guarantee of a seat on the 15‑seater minibus, and passengers are strongly advised to book in advance to secure their place.
Fares
- George ↔ Noll: R60
- Noll ↔ Uniondale/Haarlem: R60
- George ↔ Uniondale/Haarlem: R110
A return trip between Uniondale/Haarlem and George therefore costs R220 – a significant saving for residents compared to other transport options.
To continue using the bus service within George, passengers will need to purchase a GO GEORGE Smart Card at a smart card kiosk (for example at the Transport Hub where the Route 20 bus stops) and load trips onto it.
Luggage
- The minibus will have a small trailer that can carry a limited amount of luggage.
