Update on accident involving GO GEORGE minibus on Sunday 24 April

In a statement released last night by Capt Malcolm Pojie, SAPS spokesperson for the Southern Cape, the accident happened at about 20:15 at the traffic light crossing at Delville Park / Rosedale and Beach Road.

“It is alleged that a black Golf that was travelling towards town, jumped a red traffic light and collided with the side of the GO GEORGE minibus. The bus was crossing Beach Road from Rosedale into Dellville Park when it overturned due to the excessive impact. The female driver and her co-driver sustained injuries to their neck and back respectively. They were taken to hospital for medical treatment. The driver of the Golf and his passenger, both men, were transported to hospital per ambulance, both in a serious condition, where the driver passed on,” Pojie said.

The bus driver and co-driver were released from hospital after treatment last night.

Issued by South African Police Service on 24 April 2016.
