Travel to and from the CBD, around Blanco, Heather Park and Heatherlands for just R8.50 with GO GEORGE, the city’s safe, accessible, scheduled public transport system.
In December 2014 the first four GO GEORGE routes were introduced, serving Denneoord, Loerie Park, Rosemoor and a direct link between Cradock Street in the CBD and the Garden Route Mall. More than 100 000 trips have been made, and many residents have welcomed the comfortable buses and the affordable fares.
On 28 February the Phase 2 routes were introduced, opening up a new area of George to this convenient service. Several of the routes work in a circular manner, which means that passengers will be required to transfer from a community route to a main route to complete their journey.
This is to make the service more efficient and maintain fares at an affordable level. The fares for the new routes will be R8.50, including transfers between any of the routes in Phase 1 and 2, making more parts of George accessible for more residents.
When you buy your ticket for R8.50 on the bus it is stamped with the time. This ticket is valid for transfers for one hour. So, for example, if you get your ticket on a bus on the Blanco Community route, you can transfer at Maitland/Montagu and Factory bus stops to the M2 route to the CBD, and then onto the M7 to the Garden Route Mall – all with the same R8.50 ticket.
There will be timetables on bus stops with the exact times of each bus. Every effort will be made to keep to the schedule, but traffic and other factors may affect this. NOTE: Buses may be about 5 minutes early or 5 minutes late at each stop.
