The long wait for the buses is almost over: residents of Parkdene, Ballotsview, Conville, Borcherds and Lawaaikamp will see the GO GEORGE bus service turning into their neighbourhoods this
Sunday, 28 April 2019.
As far as they knocked on doors during the past week, the GO GEORGE communication champions were received with excitement and great anticipation, with families in high spirit sharing their Easter eggs with staff who worked over Easter weekend!
Due to the public holidays of the recent weeks, all the prepared material was not back from the printers yet when the team started their tour through the area, but they will make sure that houses that have already been visited, will also receive their Phase 4B User Guides and timetables.
Special effort to take Smart Card to the people
To celebrate the roll-out to Phase 4B, passengers all over the system will travel free from 28 to 30 April if they show their Smart Cards when boarding. To help passengers in the 4B area get their Smart Cards in time for this special offer, one of the two Smart Card mobile vehicles has been made available for almost two weeks to rotate between fixed locations in the community to sell cards and load trips. A flyer with the schedule and parking locations will be distributed this week. There are two parking spots in Nelson Mandela Boulevard, one at Heidedal Primary School and one at Parkdene High School.
Support for new passengers
From the first day of roll-out, the champions will be at bus stops and on the buses, assisting passengers and familiarising them with the new way of travelling all over town on a scheduled bus service. If anyone is uncertain and need help with route planning, they are welcome to phone the GO GEORGE Call Centre on 0800 044 044.
