No more old bus tickets after month end

The one-month grace period for GO GEORGE passengers to use old bus tickets that have been bought before the tariff increase of 1 February 2017, expires on 28 February 2017. From 1 March, only new tickets will be accepted.

Cheaper to buy off bus

Single bus tickets bought off bus at vendors now cost R9.00, which is only 50c more than the previous price of R8.50. Passengers are encouraged to buy their tickets before boarding a bus, to save boarding time and enable the system to stay on schedule. To reinforce this practice, a R1.00 additional increase was approved for tickets bought on the bus, those tickets now costing R10.00. If passengers still want to buy tickets on the bus, they are requested to have the exact amount of cash ready to avoid delays.

The multi-journey ticket which is valid for 10 trips, now costs R85 instead of the previous R75, one trip costing R8.50.

To make it easier for passengers to buy tickets before boarding the bus, the number of ticket vendors in town and in the residential areas have been more than tripled, now standing at 40 (view complete vendor list). Mobile vendors are also offering tickets to passengers at busy stops during peak time, joining the growing number of businesses that already serve as selling points.

Any businesses or community members interested in becoming ticket vendors, may contact the GO GEORGE Call Centre on 0800 044 044.
